INTRODUCTION

The Lake Chad Basin Conservation Project is being implemented in three countries: Cameroon, Niger, and Chad. Funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and led by Alinea International in partnership with the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC), the project aims to strengthen climate resilience of ecosystems and structurally marginalized communities, particularly women and youth, by promoting nature-based climate solutions in six RAMSAR wetlands.

The project invites applications for its micro-grants program in the following implementation areas:

  • Cameroon, in the localities of MAGA, POUSS, GUIRVIDIG, and PETTE, located in the Far North region;
  • Niger, specifically in the LASSOURI RAMSAR Site;
  • Chad, in the areas of MANDELIA and MAILAO.

OBJECTIVES

The project aims to fund:

  • Innovative income-generating activities (IGA) in wetlands for women’s and youth groups;
  • Access to climate-smart agricultural technologies in agro-pastoral areas for women’s and youth groups.
