A workshop on financing nature-based climate solutions (NbCS) was held from September 10–11, 2025, in Yaoundé at the La Falaise Hotel.

Chaired by the Minister of Environment and Nature Protection, the workshop also welcomed the participation of the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) focal point. The event was organized by Alinea and the firm FOKABS, within the framework of the Lake Chad Basin Conservation Project.
The goal was to strengthen participants’ knowledge of NbCS financing mechanisms to promote effective climate action in the Lake Chad Basin. The workshop brought together twenty-six participants (23 men and 3 women) from various sectors related to environment and biodiversity.
Over two days, participants worked on:
- identifying and assessing NbCS;
- developing relevant financing proposals;
- designing projects aligned with the eligibility criteria of climate finance mechanisms.
Group activities encouraged collaborative learning on climate resilience, biodiversity protection, and securing sustainable livelihoods.
Each country represented developed a concept note outlining the essential elements of a specific project. This exercise laid the foundation for building complete, coherent financing proposals.
The Lake Chad Basin Conservation Project is funded by Global Affairs Canada and implemented by Alinea International, in collaboration with the Lake Chad Basin Commission and several other partners.
