From July 29 to 31, 2025, a training workshop on the concepts of environmental peacebuilding and nature-based climate solutions was held at Eden Park in Koundoul. Organized by the Lake Chad Basin Conservation Project, the workshop aimed to strengthen the capacity of journalists to promote the project’s activities within targeted ecological sites.
Fifteen journalists, including three women, from community radio stations in Bongor, Yao, Fianga, N’Djamena, and Am-Timan took part in the training. Over three days, participants engaged with national experts on issues related to climate change, environmental degradation, and conflicts over natural resources.
Using an interactive approach, the journalists produced test broadcasts and short reports on current climate challenges in Chad. These hands-on activities helped strengthen the quality of media coverage and public debate related to the project. Discussions also deepened understanding of the links between environmental degradation and conflict, and contributed to countering misinformation.
This workshop is part of efforts to strengthen the skills of community radio hosts, ensuring accurate media coverage of environmental issues, providing clear public information, and fostering greater daily awareness.
The Lake Chad Basin Conservation Project is funded by Global Affairs Canada and implemented by Alinea International, in collaboration with the Lake Chad Basin Commission and several other partners
